Does gentle parenting make kids less resilient?
Gentle parenting is setting up a generation of kids who can't handle frustration, and I see it in my own family. My sister uses 'time-ins' and endless explanations with her 6-year-old, but he still tantrums over a broken crayon, whereas my stricter approach of clear boundaries and consequences gets quicker cooperation. I worry that without enough 'no', children will struggle in school and jobs where the world won't negotiate everything. But maybe I'm just stuck in old-school thinking—do the long-term benefits of empathy outweigh the short-term discomfort?
