Is gender equality possible without redistributing unpaid care work?
Gender equality in the workplace is often measured by pay gaps and boardroom representation, but I think we're missing a bigger issue: how unpaid care work still falls overwhelmingly on women, skewing every other metric we track. Even when women earn equal salaries, they end up doing double shifts at home, which quietly caps their career progression and savings. Unless we tackle that invisible load, no amount of hiring quotas or pay audits will truly close the gap. So, is gender equality possible without fundamentally redistributing care work?
