Should Vietnam force developers to reserve 20% for affordable housing?
For-sale housing in major Vietnamese cities is becoming unaffordable for young families, and the government's proposed social housing quotas sound good on paper but rarely get built on time or in the right locations. I've watched projects in Hanoi's outskirts announced with great fanfare, only to stall for years due to land clearance disputes and investor cost-cutting. Should the state force developers to allocate 20% of every new project for affordable units, or is that just a recipe for more delays and lower-quality builds?
