For all the talk about classic literature being timeless, I find myself wondering if we're just forcing old books on kids who don't care. Teaching 'Moby Dick' to uninterested teenagers might do more harm than good, making them hate reading altogether. But at the same time, without some kind of shared canon, do we lose cultural cohesion?
