Flat design still dominates most product interfaces, but I think it has quietly made usability worse, not better. When every button looks the same and relies only on color to signal clickability, accessibility takes a hit — and senior users, or anyone on a low-quality screen, end up guessing. Skeuomorphism had problems too, yet its affordances were unambiguous. Can we honestly say that a cleaner aesthetic justifies making core actions harder to recognize?
