Fast fashion brands keep releasing new collections every week, and I think it's time we stop pretending we can shop our way to sustainability. I used to buy from those $20 dress sites too, until I realized the quality meant I was replacing everything within a season. The carbon footprint of producing a single cotton t-shirt is around 2.1 kg of CO2, but the bigger issue is that we're trained to see clothes as disposable. Shouldn't we instead focus on making quality clothing more affordable, rather than expecting consumers to just resist the temptation of cheap trends?
