Are soft skills overrated despite driving promotions?
Every performance review I've run in my decade as a team lead shows the same pattern: technical skills get you in the door, but communication and empathy decide who gets promoted. Yet we never train for those, and our hiring process barely tests them. Is it fair to call soft skills overrated when the data in my own department says otherwise?
