Ethical egoism claims that acting in your own self-interest is the only rational and moral path, but I've seen it erode trust in teams and friendships faster than any altruistic gesture ever did. If everyone pursued only their own benefit, would cooperation and shared progress survive, or are we just pretending self-interest doesn't already drive most of our choices?
