Does online learning lack the benefits of face-to-face interaction?
I've been taking online courses for two years now, and I'm starting to wonder if the lack of face-to-face interaction makes learning fundamentally different. Sure, the flexibility is great, but I often feel isolated and miss the spontaneous discussions that happen in a physical classroom. Maybe we need to redesign online courses to include more synchronous group activities and real-time feedback, but does that defeat the purpose of learning at your own pace? How do you balance structure and freedom when you're studying remotely?
