Does advertising manipulate consumers or inform their choices?
I've spent a decade in marketing, and I'm tired of hearing that ads manipulate people into buying things they don't need. Sure, some campaigns cross ethical lines, but most marketers are just trying to connect a useful product with the right audience. Without advertising, small businesses would struggle to compete against established brands, and consumers would miss out on choices they never knew existed. Is it really manipulation when it's informing your decision?
