Do free returns cost shoppers more than they save?
Free returns are the main reason I stopped buying clothes in physical stores, but I'm starting to think they cost us more than we save. Last month I ordered four pairs of jeans, kept one, and sent three back — the shipping alone probably ate the entire margin on that sale. If every online store had to charge even $3 for a return label, would you still buy as much, or would you shop more carefully?
