Do animals experience boredom the same way humans do, or is that just us projecting our own emotions onto them? My cat stares out the window for hours, but I can't tell if she's bored or perfectly content with her cat thoughts. I've read that animals need environmental enrichment to prevent stress, yet they don't seem to have the same concept of time passing as we do. Maybe boredom is a human construct, and animals just live in the moment, but then why do they pace or overgroom when left alone too long?
