Cultural appropriation is often called out when big brands borrow traditional designs, but isn't that just how cultures grow and evolve? I remember visiting Japan and seeing how they've adopted Western fashion and food, blending it into their own unique style, and nobody complains about that. The problem seems to be more about power dynamics and disrespect than the borrowing itself. If a designer from China creates a collection inspired by Native American patterns but does so with research and credit, shouldn't that be celebrated as cultural exchange rather than condemned? I've seen small local artisans in Mexico who happily sell their crafts to tourists, encouraging them to wear those items back home. Maybe the line between appreciation and appropriation is thinner than we think, and our outrage is sometimes misplaced.
