Is cultural appropriation always harmful or sometimes a tribute?
Cultural appropriation gets thrown around so much that it's lost all meaning. I'm from Mexico, and when a white celebrity wears a Day of the Dead costume for Halloween, is that genuinely harmful or just a clumsy tribute? My grandmother actually finds it flattering that people love our traditions, but my cousin calls it an insult. The line between appreciation and theft seems to shift depending on who's asking, which makes me wonder if we need stricter boundaries or more open exchange. We can't keep policing every cultural exchange without killing creativity, can we?
