Commercial aviation is safer than ever, yet we keep adding security theater that does little to prevent the next real threat. I fly about 40 times a year for work, and the time spent removing shoes and laptops has never once caught a genuine terrorist. The TSA screens millions daily, but the last successful hijacking attempt on a US carrier was in 2001 — maybe we should redirect that funding toward intelligence and behavioral detection instead.
