Climate change is real, but I don't think individual carbon footprint guilt is the path forward. Going vegan, quitting flying, and buying used clothes made me feel noble, yet a single cargo ship emits more in a day than I will in a lifetime. Corporate emissions and government policy dwarf personal choices by orders of magnitude. So why do we keep telling people to recycle and offset while ignoring the structural changes that actually matter? Shaming individuals for their plastic straws might just be a convenient distraction that protects business as usual.
