How much of what we call "parenting" is actually just logistics — school runs, snack negotiations, bedtime enforcement — and how much is real connection with our kids? I tracked it for one week: 34 hours of driving, cooking, and reminding, versus maybe 3 hours of actual conversation where nobody was multitasking. I'm not sure the ratio is fixable, some of that labor is love. But it made me wonder whether parents who say they're "present" mean physically present or emotionally available, because those are very different things. Do you think connection can survive inside all that logistics, or does something have to give?
