Building more bike lanes in cities is a waste of money because most people still prefer cars. I've lived in Portland for eight years, and our bike infrastructure costs millions but traffic congestion has only gotten worse. Sure, cycling is green, but it doesn't solve the real problem of sprawl and poor public transit. Why invest in lanes that sit empty for most of the year?
