Has binge-watching ruined the weekly episode format?
Binge-watching entire seasons in one sitting has ruined the weekly episode format for good. I used to look forward to Sunday nights for shows like The Sopranos, but now my friends just wait until a full season drops and then disappear for a weekend. The cliffhanger effect is weaker when you don't have to wait a week to discuss theories with others. Do we really want to sacrifice that shared cultural moment just for convenience?
