Automation has already eliminated over 400,000 manufacturing jobs in the US since 2000, and I've seen it firsthand in my own factory. But instead of fighting the robots, shouldn't we focus on retraining workers for the new jobs they create? The real issue isn't the machines—it's that our education system hasn't caught up with the pace of change. Universal basic income might be a temporary fix, but it won't solve the deeper problem of purpose and skill mismatch. Is resisting automation even a viable option, or are we just delaying the inevitable?
