As a former church volunteer who spent years organizing community events, I question whether organized religion still provides the moral compass it once did. We saw empty pews every Sunday despite our outreach efforts, yet the same people showed up for our food drives and youth programs. Is the structure of weekly services and doctrine necessary for ethical living, or do we just need shared values and secular rituals? I'm not saying religion is useless, but its role in guiding daily decisions seems weaker now, and I wonder if we're better off building our own moral frameworks.
