Art galleries are becoming obsolete in the digital age, with virtual tours and online exhibitions reaching far larger audiences than physical spaces ever could. I recently visited a major museum that felt more like a crowded food court than a place for contemplation. But seeing a Rothko in person versus on a screen is a completely different sensory experience that no technology can replicate yet.
