Anthropologists should stop treating indigenous knowledge as mere cultural artifact and start testing it alongside Western science, because our fieldwork shows local land management often outperforms satellite models, yet we still publish it as folklore rather than data. In Paraguay, Ayoreo fire techniques cut wildfire risk by half in areas where official methods failed, but getting research grants for that comparison is nearly impossible. I'm not saying every traditional claim holds up, but dismissing them out of hand ignores measurable results we've documented.
