Which approach reduces anxiety long-term: challenging thoughts or accepting them?
After years of battling anxiety myself, I'm curious whether therapy actually works better when you focus on changing thoughts first or on accepting them as they are. CBT tells us to challenge irrational beliefs, while acceptance-based approaches say fighting thoughts only makes them stronger. I've tried both and still feel torn. For someone with moderate anxiety, which starting point tends to lead to real, lasting improvement?
