After watching another Sunday night drama get a cliffhanger finale only to return with a rushed resolution, I'm convinced network TV's weekly episode model is broken. Binge- releasing seasons on streaming platforms respects the story arc and the viewer's time far better than dragging a plot across five months. The water-cooler effect that used to justify appointment viewing has moved to social media anyway, where everyone catches up at their own pace. Can we honestly say the old schedule still serves viewers rather than just the advertisers?
