Can digital therapy apps truly replace face-to-face therapy?
After three years of using therapy apps for my anxiety, I’ve noticed a pattern: the initial relief fades, and I’m left with generic coping tips that don’t address my core issues. A chatbot can’t read body language or catch the hesitation in my voice, and real progress often happens in that silent pause between thoughts. Sure, these apps are convenient and cheap, but I wonder if they give us a false sense of security, making us skip the harder, messier work of face-to-face therapy. Can a digital tool ever truly replace the human connection that healing seems to require?
