Does photography distance us from the moment or deepen our appreciation?
After five years of shooting street photography almost daily, I've started wondering if my camera actually helps me see more or just gives me an excuse to keep people at a distance. I can spend an hour waiting for the right light or the perfect stranger to walk through my frame, and sometimes I catch myself observing life through the viewfinder instead of actually living it. Is photography just a way of collecting moments without being present in them, or does the act of framing and focusing genuinely deepen our appreciation for what we see? I'm genuinely torn because some of my clearest memories are moments I never photographed, yet the ones I did capture seem more vivid in my mind than the ones I let pass by.
