After coaching youth soccer for six seasons, I've noticed that teams with the most possession often lose to counter-attacking sides. Is beautiful, tiki-taka football truly the best way to win, or are we overvaluing style over results? In the last World Cup, the champions had less than 50% possession in three knockout matches, yet they lifted the trophy. Maybe the purists need to reconsider what winning actually demands.
