Do security cameras really make our neighborhoods safer?
After a break-in at my neighbor's house last month, our street is now debating whether installing security cameras actually prevents crime. I've seen statistics suggesting that visible cameras can deter some burglaries, but they don't stop all, and there's a privacy cost for passersby. My neighbor got footage but the police haven't caught anyone yet. Do security cameras genuinely make our neighborhoods safer, or just push crime to other places?
